There are a lot of factors that can result in a loss of internet connection. However, what we all know is that it is incredibly frustrating to experience such a thing, especially if you are in the middle of an important task online. If you find yourself dealing with this annoying situation, don’t worry! There are several things you can do to try and fix this common issue.

We’ll walk you through the entire process on how to fix WiFi connected but no internet connection issue. Let’s begin!

Check and see if your internet provider is down.

If your WiFi is up and running, but you still can’t seem to connect to the internet, it could be that your ISP is down. This happens from time to time, so it’s always a good idea to check with them first before doing anything else. You can normally find out if your ISP is down by checking their website or social media pages. If there are any widespread outages, they will usually be posted there.

Most internet providers usually announce an outage or downtime beforehand, especially when it’s for maintenance work. But, there are instances where you will experience unannounced downtimes, so it’s best to be sure by checking updates on your ISP’s website or social media page.

    Restart your router and modem.

If your ISP is up and running, but you still can’t connect to the internet, the next thing that you should do is restart your router and modem. This will refresh the connection and might just do the trick in getting you back online.

Simply unplug the two, wait for at least 30 seconds, and plug them back in. After that, give it a few more seconds to connect to the internet. Once your device has been connected, try using an app to see if the connection has been restored. We recommend trying multiple apps, like streaming services, online games, and social media apps.

    Check your router settings.

If you’re still having trouble connecting to the internet, it’s possible that there is an issue with your router settings. The first thing you should do is check to see if your router is set to the right mode. Many routers have multiple modes, like “802.11ac” or “802.11n.”

If your router is set to the wrong mode, it could be the reason why you can’t connect to the internet. To fix this, simply log into your router’s settings and change the mode to the correct one. Once you’ve done that, restart your router and modem and try to connect to the internet again.

Reset your router to factory settings.

If you’ve tried all of the other solutions on this list and you’re still having trouble connecting to the internet, you can try resetting your router to factory settings. This will erase all of the customizations that you’ve made to your router, like the name, password, and settings. After that, your router will be reset to factory settings. From there, you can try connecting to the internet again.

Check your antivirus or VPN software.

VPNs and antivirus software are known to cause connectivity issues for most devices. Even when you’re trying to watch your favorite shows on Netflix, Hulu, or Sling TV, when you have these software applications on, you’re likely to experience slow to no internet connection.

To see if that’s the case, disable your VPN client or software for a few minutes and check to see if you can connect to the internet. If you can, then it’s safe to say that your VPN is the culprit. Try reconnecting to your VPN with a different server or at a different time.

    Flush DNS.

If you’re still having trouble connecting to the internet, you can try flushing your DNS. This is a pretty simple process that can be done in just a few steps. To flush your DNS, simply open the Command Prompt and type in “ipconfig /flushdns.” Once you hit Enter, your DNS will be flushed, and you should be able to connect to the internet.

    Final Thoughts

There are a lot of reasons why you might not be able to connect to the internet. But, as long as you follow the solutions on this list, you should be able to troubleshoot the issue and get back online in no time.
